After an accident in 2011 left me with injuries including lack of sensation in my right hand and chronic pain through my shoulder and back I was aware that my chances of returning to full time employment where slim. Having good and bad days and not knowing from one day to another how much pain I would be in, I decided I needed a hobby, something to occupy my time and perhaps something therapeutic for my hand too.
After trying my hand to a number of things nothing really stuck until I discovered the Art of Henna (or Mehndi).
I researched the history of Henna, the different cultures that use Henna and how it is used all over the world by different countries in their own styles. I fell in love with the different ideas and concept of being totally creative while drawing inspiration from this amazing art form.
I ordered my first Henna cone and started to practice, first on myself, then on my husband and then on my brave family and friends. After a few months I was brave enough to take my henna to a fair and work on my first clients and from there I discovered my love for this art form and I haven’t looked back. I am now a fully insured mobile Henna Artist.
As well as Henna, I also became experienced in Glitter Body Art, visiting many local fairs and branching out into mobile appointments, parties and events. I also developed my own range of Henna decorated gifts including candles and wooden plaques that have proven very popular.
My little business is only a year old and going from strength to strength having been nominated for a Liverpool Lifestyle Award in March 2017 and coming 3rd in my category and I look forward to seeing what the future brings.
